On Wednesday I was at the Bristol a4uexpo Road Show and had a really great time, it was like an event of old! However it was lacking a bit on Affiliate attendance so you can’t have it every way, however the people that did turn up and stayed the course until the early hours. I had a great time, made loads of new contacts and re-established old ones and I even seen a few people in a new (better) light!
Now what was interesting is that very few business cards changed hands, but is that a bad thing? Well I am sure a few people sent by their bosses will be asked so how many cards did you get? Well the new way to reply is, I only got 1, 2 or 3 cards but I am now tagged on Facebook, I can remember everyone I met, they are adding me as a new Facebook contact or have requested me to be added to theirs. It may look like I am very drunk, dancing away, spending your entertainment budget, I am in fact an amazingly great networker who might not have got the traditional business card but I have something better than that-a solid contact that I know on a personal level (well as personal as you can get while taking rubbish drunk).
So all you network and merchant staff that need to justify your expenditure send your boss to this blog post, educate them in how the Internet has change the Business Card for good!

Well it’s getting closer, to the Summer Networking Event in Bristol. If you have not already booked your ticket for the event then you better rush on over to register as you only have until 12 noon on Wednesday the 19th July to say your coming, register here!
I have not been to that many events this year, however the last few years the summer events have been really good and surprisingly they manage to get the weather so fingers crossed this event is no different.
I will be as ever wearing my many hats (note: I don’t actually wear any hats it’s a figure of speech so if you’re looking for the guy with many hats then you might not find me LOL) and I will be looking forward to talking to people interested in working with Paid On Results as well as Merchants from other Networks that may be of interest to my Affiliate Company, UK Internet Sites. However best of all, it will be another chance to meet up with my many industry friends and talk a load of old cobblers
These however often end up going down the path of some interesting business chatter
So if your coming on Friday be sure to say hello to me, if I know you already and you have loads of questions stored up for me, be sure to bring the questions with a drink and you have until I complete drinking said drink to ask and get replies. Note that if you’re the 10th person to bring a drink with questions don’t expect any great information at this point LOL
Looking forward to seeing you guys on Friday.

Shortly I will be in Portugal and in about 24 hours Affiliate Fat Camp officially starts. However I hope it will be my first and last invite to “fat” camp, all going well I will look forward to “fit” camp the following year but hey it’s a bunch of Affiliates who are found of the drink away from wife’s and girlfriends for just over a week. What’s the chances of us actually sticking to it and coming out the other end a little fitter and a little less fat?
My bet is for the first couple of days it will all be taken serious and then the realisation that it’s actually hard work to get fit will sink in, at this point we will probably lose a few people to the beer. I am hoping to be one of them LOL
I am considering taking and uploading photos so my facebook contacts can see what we have been up to, but will make decision on that once I am in Portugal, however add me to your facebook if you want to view them search for “Clarke Duncan” not many of them around. The outside of the villa is covered by 8 cameras so their could even be a possibility of a big brother style live feed however Paul says we need to vote on that and it will probably be restricted to family members, we will see.
But is not all about exercise, there is a work element also and we will be discussing the great and the good of affiliate marketing, how things have changed for the better (and worse) and what the future holds and what we can do to be part of it and make it still the enjoyable fun business it’s been for several years now.

Why are DFDS Seaways being so generous, well they simply wish to show they are committed to Affiliate Marketing and are looking to grow there base of active affiliates and what better way to do this than to experience the product first hand. It’s got me thinking for sure, a company this interested in Affiliates has got to be worth promoting.
So what’s the event cost for Affiliates, the crazy cheap price of £29.38, I honestly thought this was a mistake, a day of networking, a trip to Amsterdam and all the other stuff in-between, you be nuts to miss this one.
Over 110+ people have signed up already. I know there is a few people thinking about it or waiting to see who else is going but with the ratio of Affiliates to Merchants and Networks being so high this is going to be one super event.
I will be kicking around so be sure to say hello to me, and I will introduce you to some top Affiliates, good chance to make a few friends and meet a few people.
